Mary Ann is a Senior Manager for the Company Network at Ceres. She advises network member companies in the food, beverage and healthcare sectors on how to implement sustainable business strategies and utilize robust stakeholder engagement, goal setting and disclosure to advance their sustainability performance and leadership.
Mary Ann also led the development of Engage the Chain, Ceres’ investor guide on agricultural supply chain risk, which overviews the environmental and social challenges associated with the production of eight commonly sourced commodities—beef, corn, dairy, fiber-based packaging, palm oil, soybeans, sugarcane and wheat—and gives specific examples of reputational, market, operational, litigation and regulatory risks that food companies may face as a result of these impacts. Engage the Chain provides investors with details on the key drivers of financial risk in ag supply chains, along with guidance on the steps they can take to evaluate associated risks in their own portfolios.
Prior to joining Ceres, Mary Ann spent 7 years in the Corporate Social Responsibility team at Dunkin’ Brands (Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins), where she helped initiate and build the company’s sustainability program. She provided internal expertise on a range of issues including sustainable agriculture, waste and recycling, sustainable packaging, energy and climate, animal welfare and shareholder advocacy, and led the company’s CSR reporting and disclosure process. She also gained a broad knowledge of franchising and the food and beverage industry through 7 years in the company’s legal team.
