“I grew up in Mahopac, New York and ever since I was a kid I was interested in the business world. I ended up going to Lehigh University looking to enter the finance field; however, after taking my first accounting class, I realized accounting was what I really wanted to do. When I graduated in 2012, I was hired by PKF O’Connor Davies, ranked among the Top 100 accounting firms in the U.S.
The majority of my clients are not-for-profit organizations. By working regularly with these nonprofit entities, I became interested in sustainability — focusing on economic, social, and environmental responsibility. My clients not only recognize the need for sustainability, but also realize they are ultimately potential benefactors.
I am hoping to grow in my knowledge of the relevant professional standards on sustainability so that I can help my clients develop related business strategies and provide them with accounting, reporting and assurance services. Taking a proactive interest in sustainability now, while in its early stages, further contributes to the development of my career as a “trusted advisor.””
